ABOUT PAUL:

I began my journey into dance by becoming involved in the theater, training in Jazz Dance, foil fencing, gymnastics, The Alexander Technique, and The Feldenkrais Method. In 1988-89 I trained and competed in England and Wales on a Ballroom Dance Tour. Later on, I went through a training and certification process learning how to teach others the many skills and joy of Social Partner Dancing, which includes any dance done where two people are connected to each other and move together to music.

Each partner dance is unique, but the principles of movement, balance and rotation, communication and musicality are the same, whether exploring the diverse Argentine Tango, the subtle and controlled Slow Foxtrot, or the basic Hustle.  In an art form such as dance, we learn the structure, or rules, so that when they are broken, we break them with intelligence and not ignorance.  

Since becoming certified in 2005 I have built my own business teaching group classes, wedding dances, giving private instruction, and choreographing and performing in Ventura County in Southern California.
